Maria Duschenes e a História da Videodança no Brasil - Maria Duschenes and the Screendance History in Brazil

Olhem que interessante um registro sobre a história da dança brasileira neste vídeo com diversos excertos do trabalho de Maria Duschenes (pioneira nos conceitos de movimento de Laban no Brasil). É interessante notar os dois primeiros excertos de vídeo datados dos anos de 1949 e 1950, onde ela performa para a câmera de Hebert Duschenes (seu esposo, que filma com uma câmera 8mm em Campos do Jordão, São Paulo) improvisando e experimentando conceitos de dança de Laban. Também percebemos que não se trata apenas de um registro da dança pois existe uma composição e montagem sendo explorada pela câmera através da lógica dos cortes entre os planos e também em movimentos que jogam em relação aos movimentos da dançarina. Estes trabalhos podem ser considerados para além de um registro da história da dança no Brasil como para a história da videodança.

Mira lo registro de la historia de la danza brasileña en este vídeo con varios extractos de la obra María Duschenes (pionera en conceptos de movimiento Laban en Brasil). Curiosamente, los dos primeros clips de vídeo que datan de los años 1949 y 1950, donde se lleva a cabo para la cámara Hebert Duschenes (su marido, filmando con una cámara de 8 mm en Campos do Jordao, Brasil) improvisar y experimentar conceptos de baile Laban. "During a three month residency at The Place I observed a number of dance classes. This film is a reflection - or an exercise of the imagination - on the processes set in motion while learning and performing a sequence of movements. Like a cartographer of the invisible, I record the physical, mental, emotional, kinetic and spatial experience of a dancer to reveal the intricate, intimate arrangement of their multiple sensations. The word 'constellation' refers to those inner stories or events inscribed in space, which can be read like a map."

This film formed part of an exhibition, How my hands got to know my feet, showing new works by Charrier. Commissioned by The Place's Creative Teaching and Learning Department, the project focused on the process of learning in dance, investigating how the body is shaped by knowledge, and how knowledge is passed from body to body.
